Back on the face

Three months ago we stopped writing.

After about eight months of using the web to connect our lives with friends, family and eventually a lot of folks we didn’t even know, we crashed.

Javid, our prematurely born son, was of course the reason for writing in the first place. His life in the hospital was the storyline, and when he died in April much of the story ended, as well.

Something else that changed soon after his death was our energy level. I had every intention of continuing to write, but found I wasn’t able to. To function at home and at work, both Ana Lisa and I needed to make some rather dramatic shifts. For a while anyway, we needed to withdraw.

Four months after his death and we’re still steppin’ kind of gingerly. But little by little we’re peeking our heads back around some corners that we’ve not ventured near for a while. This is one.

Welcome to WeePlanet, my new blog. Although the design and location are new, in many ways it’s an extension of Javid’s web pages, which can still be accessed (now hosted on this site and no longer in their old location) by clicking his name under “Pages” in the sidebar on the right, or simply by following this link.

Writing about Javid and all the fab people who supported and loved him was grand. It’s hard to imagine it being anywhere near as fun to write about anything else. And maybe it won’t be. But there are still things about the experience with Javid that I would like to try to put into words. And then there’s all the on-going stuff.

WeePlanet may eventually develop into something much different than the story of a tiny preemie boy and the people who loved him. But he will continue to be its wee taproot.
