Uncle Tony, STOP HOVERING!

Overheard on the ice at the somewhat-ironically named “Keep Kids Safe Skate” (a benefit for Ana Lisa’s work):

“Maggie, would you like to take my hand?” “No, I’m good.”

“Maggie, do you want some help up?” (after falling) “No, I can do it.”

“Maggie, do you want me to show you how to glide?” “No, I don’t want to.”

“Maggie, do you want to learn how to push with one foot and slide with the other?” “No thank you.”

Unfailingly polite, isn’t she, my niece?

Oh, and regarding the last two interchanges, after about 10 minutes she had figured out how to do both successfully on her own. In the end I settled back into my role as potential blocker to the faster skating big people. That service, at least, I was able to successfully provide!
