Agitation
AL thought it might just be gas, but I was pretty sure I could hear the Kid agitating this morning. Interested, I leaned in and boy did I get an earful. Turns out he is an Obamaniac after all. So he was predictably quite disappointed with the Pennsylvania primary results last night, while generally encouraged by the level of excitement and participation. He said it was nice, given the rumors floating around the amniotic sac, to see such obvious passion and interest in the future direction of the country and the world.
He did ask me to pass on to both Democratic presidential candidates that he’d like them to chill out a bit. Regarding the rest of us, he offered up the hope that we might resist the temptation to demonize those with perspectives different than our own. I asked him if that included people still planning to vote Republican this November, and he gave me one of those looks. Anyone who’s ever had a parent, a teenager or a significant other knows exactly what I’m talking about. I was immediately chastened, while also a bit stunned that “the look” could be so clearly delivered through the ripples in the wall of his mother’s belly.
Apparently the Boy is all in favor of lively competition. But he’ll be very annoyed with us if we come out of this all huddled up in our separate corners, nursing grievances and looking for payback.
I believe his specific words were, “Don’t make me come out there!” To which platform we add our heartfelt support, at least for the time being.
Of course I might have garbled a few details, communicating as we were over the constant gurgle of amniotic fluid.
Or it might have just been gas.
