Spring showers
Weebinbizzy with visits from both sets of parents and two (!) baby showers. We felt a bit silly with all the attention, but it was very sweet. :-)
Somewhere in the transition between Saturday and Sunday we hit the 33.33333333333333333…, etc. mark on the week count. The high school math geek inside me has been anticipating that number for some reason. A little late then, here’s a 33-week photo for those of you unnaturally obsessed with bellies.
Without nearly enough time to do the following justice, here are a few happenings that shouldn’t pass without a mention:
- Happy 70th birthday to my great father-in-law Paul, who spent his birthday weekend throwing his daughter a party–completely backwards–and now is spending the actual day on his knees in the little boy’s room, sanding and prepping floor boards for mother-in-law Ann to stain. No rest for the generous and the unwise-enough-not-to-show-any-signs-of-their-advancing-years…
- And happy 45th wedding anniversary yesterday to my wonderful folks, who’ve managed with seeming ease to stay interesting both to each other and to the rest of us for lo these many years. Also with the throwing a shower for us, completely not getting the who’s-supposed-to-be-celebrating-whom. Not that we’re complaining… Congratulations Mom and Dad!
- Finally, welcome to the world Magdalena Rivera Weant Johnson, freshly minted daughter of my co-worker Marsha, who (Magdalena, not Marsha) popped into the world yesterday morning at 3:17 a.m. weighing 8 lbs. 11 oz.
So much important stuff happening, and here we were distracted by a shower AL’s workmates threw for her, and then another organized by our parents here in our home. I’ll have more pictures and stories later, but for now how ’bout just one illustrating our mature approach to the experience:
A big thank you to all of you involved in the preparation and celebration. More later.
