Holiday. Celebrate.
T’was a day declared by no less of an authority than the greasy niece Maggie to be a new national holiday: “Water Pistol Fight Day.” Well goodness, who are we not to honor such an auspicious day with proper pomp and circumstance?
Anyone else suspect as I do that Oliver, shown here in this last photo, is already plotting his revenge? And that it may be slow in coming, but that when it arrives it will bring a world of pain.
Meanwhile Ollie’s future partner in crime spent most of the day practicing different positions of repose.
My personal favorite is this last one. I thought the subtle nod to Valkyrie Brünnhilde from What’s Opera Doc? was a nice touch. If you’d like to see the inspiration, watch below:
We’ve been told newborns sleep an average of 16 hours a day. That leaves eight whole hours to kill, and with parents like these it behooves a wee body to come up with ways to keep oneself entertained. Next week at our local park there’s going to be an outdoor production of Shakespeare’s As You Like It. (We’re thinking to make it our first family outing; you’re all invited.) Looks like the boy may be putting his inner thespian through its paces in anticipation.
I’ll start with some face stretches and age-appropriate vocal warm-ups: ta, ta, ta, ta, da, da, da, da, bah, bah, bah, bah, ma, ma, ma, ma.
Then a little Jai chi.
Rub the old pecs to get the circulation flowing.
Then dive right in. Just wait ’til they see my Orlando…
…especially if I spice it up with a dash of Brando.
